Neil Dixon
CDAT Chief Executive Officer
This is a really exciting time to be part of CDAT. We have a great group of current schools and are looking forward to further schools joining the CDAT family in the coming months. Our aim as a trust is to give everyone within our schools – pupils and staff – the chance to achieve to the very best of their abilities. We aim to build on the strengths and potential of each of our schools, allowing them to grow and thrive while retaining their own individual character: as a trust, we know that one size doesn’t necessarily fit all. We do know though that working together in partnership is the most effective way for all of our schools to succeed.
Welcome to Chester Diocesan Academies Trust.
Thank you for visiting the CDAT home page. CDAT is a multi-academy trust currently made up of eleven very diverse schools from across the whole of the Diocese of Chester.
CDAT was formed in 2014 by the Chester Diocesan Board of Education (DBE) and has worked in very close partnership with the DBE ever since its inception. The trust has a distinctive ethos that is clearly rooted in clear, Christian values – respect, friendship and trust, to name just three. These impact on every area of our work and are communicated and shared in such a way that all member schools can understand and relate to them. Although the Trust was initially set up by the DBE, it is fully inclusive and we are happy to welcome both church and community schools into the CDAT family.

Our Approach
We believe that all children are entitled to an excellent standard of education and that high-quality education enables children to grow and reach their potential academically, socially, creatively, physically and spiritually. Furthermore, we believe that excellence in education is based on outstanding leadership, a high-quality curriculum and excellent classroom practice. The CDAT School Effectiveness package includes a range of support in all these areas. We also provide new networking opportunities for schools to share best practice, while still encouraging schools to retain existing, effective school networks.
Why should your school join CDAT?
Rooted in Christian values, CDAT is committed to:
- Valuing the uniqueness of every child
- Aspiring to excellence
- Being a nurturing learning community for all
- Jesus said, ‘I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness’ (John 10:10). As a Trust, our aim is to ensure that all of our pupils are able to benefit from and enjoy ‘life in all its fullness.’
